Director, Full Stack Engineering (Healthtech)

Location: Hybrid position based at the New York City office, with two or more days per week in the office. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.

Salary: Approximately $250,000 per year, plus bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead, grow, and inspire a distributed full stack engineering team across onshore and offshore locations.
• Define the technical strategy and architecture for the Enterprise Clinical workflows platform.
• Drive roadmap execution with Product and Design, translating business goals into clear engineering plans.
• Establish code review, on-call, incident response, and cross-team engineering practices.
• Partner with Product, Design, Data, Security, and Compliance stakeholders on platform delivery.
• Drive observability, operational excellence, security, scalability, and HIPAA/PHI compliance.

Requirements

• 6+ years of software engineering experience, including 3–5 years in engineering management or senior technical leadership.
• Experience leading distributed engineering teams across multiple time zones, including offshore or nearshore teams.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, cloud architecture, and full stack web development at scale.
• Experience hiring, developing, and retaining senior engineering talent.
• Strong product judgment, communication, influencing, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience; U.S. work authorization is required, and immigration sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience with GraphQL, Relay, Apollo, or URQL.
• Experience with LLMs, MLOps, Docker, ECS, or EKS.
• Experience with Redis pub/sub, WebSockets, React, and TypeScript.
• Experience designing observability solutions and using monitoring, logging, metrics, OpenSearch, or Lucene-based search tools.
• Experience in health tech, medical devices, or other regulated industries, including HIPAA, PHI, or PII compliance.
