Portfolio Data Migration Consultant (Alternative Investments)

Location: London; hybrid, with 3–4 days in the office

Salary: £200–£280 per day via umbrella

Established alternative investment firm upgrading its portfolio management infrastructure.

What you will do

• Prepare investment data for migration to a new Portfolio Management System.
• Interrogate portfolio data across private equity and direct lending, including loan characteristics, investment terms, transaction data, and investment-period end dates.
• Reconcile system data against underlying records and legal documentation, investigating inconsistencies and missing information.
• Work with investment, finance, operations, legal, and technology teams to resolve data issues and establish a reliable migration dataset.
• Support post-migration reconciliation, testing, and UAT to verify data transfer and platform functionality.

Requirements

• Experience in portfolio monitoring, fund control, fund operations, investment operations, or middle office within an alternative investment environment.
• Strong knowledge of alternative investment products, ideally including private equity and private credit/direct lending.
• Experience working with investment and portfolio data and understanding the commercial meaning behind individual data points.
• Previous involvement in a Portfolio Management System implementation, migration, upgrade, or data project.
• Excellent Excel and data-manipulation skills.
• Ability to reconcile system data against source documentation and investigate discrepancies rather than simply flagging them.
• Exceptional attention to detail and a structured approach to data quality.
• Confidence working across investment, finance, operations, legal, and technology teams.

Nice to have

• SQL or Power Query skills.
• Previous experience with Dynamo or comparable alternative-investment Portfolio Management Systems.
