Senior Credit Risk Analyst - Business Banking

Location: Hybrid working in Leeds, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh or Halifax, United Kingdom

Salary: £44,901–£49,890 per year, plus performance-related bonus

What you will do

• Deliver analysis and technical insight for Business Banking credit risk strategies and systems.
• Support responsible lending decisions through automated credit strategies, scorecards and decisioning systems.
• Use analytics to improve credit decisions and maximise the efficiency of credit decisioning infrastructure.
• Oversee key aspects of the credit portfolio to support safe and sustainable business growth.
• Build relationships with the wider Risk team and first-line business areas.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor junior analysts.

Requirements

• Strong numeracy skills and A-Level or degree-level qualifications.
• Practical experience with analytical software and coding, such as SAS or SQL.
• Confidence using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of credit risk, strategies, scorecards and change management.
• Ability to explain complex issues clearly to technical and non-technical audiences, junior colleagues and senior management.
• Curiosity, logical thinking and enthusiasm for solving problems when the answer is not directly available in the data.

Nice to have

• Proficiency in Power BI.
• Experience coaching junior team members.
• Experience deputising for management and supporting strategic initiatives.
• Experience in business lending.
