Aerodynamic Performance Engineer (Aerospace)

What you will do

• Develop computer models and simulations of aircraft aerodynamic behaviour.
• Define, attend, and analyse wind tunnel tests at facilities worldwide.
• Define and analyse flight tests, including supporting real-time decisions using live telemetry data.
• Combine simulation, wind tunnel, and flight test results into aerodynamic performance models.
• Develop robust aerodynamic modelling for new aircraft technologies and configurations.
• Work with Future Projects, R&D, and aircraft programme stakeholders in an international environment.

Requirements

• Knowledge of aerodynamics, including the factors affecting aircraft lift and drag.
• Experience with Python or similar programming languages for data analysis.
• Ability to communicate complex technical topics clearly and adapt communication to different audiences.
• Ability to provide technical leadership to team members or operational leadership to subcontractors.
• Successful completion of BPSS and Export Control checks, including a criminal record check, is required.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of aircraft flight operations and performance, including take-off and landing performance, aerodynamic safety limitations, and commercial aircraft flight phases.
• Knowledge of CS-25 or FAR25 certification standards.
• Practical experience modelling 2D or 3D geometries in CFD, including mesh types, turbulence models, time-averaged modelling, convergence criteria, and result interpretation.
• Experience planning, supporting, and analysing wind tunnel or flight tests.
