AI Engineer – Forward Deployed Engineering (U.S. Public Sector)

Location: Maryland, Virginia, or the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area; remote work is available with periodic on-site work and customer visits

Salary: $182,000–$250,208 USD annually

What you will do

• Develop generative AI solutions using current AI research techniques to solve customer problems.
• Own production rollouts of customer-facing and internal generative AI applications.
• Advise customers as a trusted technical expert across multiple domains.
• Present technical work at conferences and contribute to internal and external thought leadership.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to influence priorities and shape the product roadmap.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a U.S. government Secret clearance are required.
• Experience building generative AI applications involving RAG, multi-agent systems, Text2SQL, or fine-tuning.
• Experience with tools such as HuggingFace, LangChain, and DSPy, plus pandas, scikit-learn, and PyTorch.
• Experience deploying production-grade machine learning applications on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• A graduate degree in a quantitative discipline or equivalent practical experience.
• Ability to communicate or teach technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences; willingness to travel to customers every 4–8 weeks as needed.

Nice to have

• Experience with the Databricks Intelligence Platform and Apache Spark for large-scale distributed data processing.
• Active Secret or higher security clearance.
