AI Engineer (Applied AI)

Salary: $176,000–$288,000 annually

What you will do

• Build and own end-to-end slices of Concierge, including prompt and context architecture, retrieval over policy and coverage data, tool and API calls, and human handoffs.
• Develop evaluation loops using golden sets, trajectory evaluation, LLM-as-judge techniques, production call-trace analysis, and error analysis.
• Improve containment and resolution rates while preserving accuracy and instrumenting the system to measure both.
• Optimize the synchronous voice path, including turn-taking, interruptions, latency budgets, LiveKit, SIP, and the underlying telephony layer.
• Use carrier calls and recordings to identify conversation failures and guide product improvements.

Requirements

• Experience building and deploying production LLM applications used by real users.
• Strong knowledge of LLMs, context engineering, RAG, agentic workflows, machine learning, and deep learning.
• Experience with disciplined evaluations, statistical measurement, error analysis, and making unpredictable AI systems reliable.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals, including data stores, distributed systems, testing, security, privacy, CI/CD, cost, latency, reliability, and scalability.
• Daily experience using coding agents and shaping product specifications for AI systems.
• Must be able to work remotely from the United States.

Nice to have

• Experience with real-time or streaming voice systems, ASR, TTS, telephony, SBC, SIP, or SIPREC.
• Insurance, claims, or other regulated-domain experience.
• Experience building evaluation or observability tooling adopted by other engineers.
• Experience with model experimentation, training, and production deployment.
• Experience with P&C insurance, hirify.global products, DSPy, or GEPA.
