Assistant Accountant (Manufacturing)

What you will do

• Manage daily banking activities, multiple accounts and currencies within a UK-wide cash pool.
• Prepare supplier payment runs, VAT returns, monthly payments on account, journals and month-end reports.
• Complete balance-sheet reconciliations in BlackLine and manage fixed assets across three sites, including depreciation, additions, disposals and verifications.
• Maintain lease entries and monthly costs in CoStar, reconciling balance-sheet and P&L accounts.
• Prepare information for internal and external audits, annual tax packs and monthly and annual SOX reviews.
• Review monthly costs and annual budgets with department managers, while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• AAT qualification or equivalent accounting experience.
• Strong MS Excel skills and previous experience with an integrated ERP system.
• Ability to work to tight reporting deadlines with strong attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills.
• Good communication, teamwork, time-management and prioritisation skills.
• Confident, flexible and resilient approach, with the ability to influence stakeholders and make fact-based decisions.

Nice to have

• Experience with QAD or another manufacturing ERP system.
• Experience in a manufacturing business.
• Knowledge of SOX, US GAAP or UK GAAP.
