Head of Forward Deployed Engineering (AI)

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, and develop Forward Deployed Software Engineers embedded across enterprise customer environments.
• Set customer engagement, delivery, and engineering quality standards across concurrent accounts.
• Own senior relationships with customer engineering leaders and participate in architecture reviews, sprint planning, and technical decisions.
• Act as the senior technical escalation point while reviewing code, contributing to integrations, and debugging complex issues.
• Build reusable delivery assets, integration patterns, technical demos, and proof-of-concept frameworks.
• Partner with Product, Sales, and executive leadership on FDE growth strategy, product feedback, and enterprise go-to-market initiatives.

Requirements

• 10+ years of progressive software engineering experience, including at least 3 years in technical leadership.
• Experience leading teams in customer-facing, embedded, or professional services engineering environments.
• Experience establishing a delivery framework from scratch and managing multiple concurrent enterprise engagements.
• Fluency across cloud infrastructure, APIs, microservices, CI/CD, and AI/ML integration.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to work credibly with engineers through VP-level stakeholders.
• Experience with IDEs and code-assistant tools used in software development workflows.

• Experience in a high-growth startup, Forward Deployed Engineering, embedded consulting, or technical account management.
• Background in AI/ML platforms, developer tooling, or enterprise software modernization.
• Experience building and scaling small-to-mid-sized technical teams.
• Technical thought leadership through open-source contributions, conference talks, or published writing.
