Lead Applied AI Engineer

Location: Remote (US)

Base salary: $150,000–$300,000 USD per year, plus potential discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Architect, build, and optimize production AI systems while maintaining hands-on technical ownership.
• Design reliable, permission-aware agents and orchestration covering planning, tool use, memory, state, and recovery.
• Extract requirements and executable specifications from source code, metadata, tests, and runtime behavior, mapping them to hirify.global’s object model.
• Build semantic and dependency models, retrieval systems, evaluation pipelines, and CI quality gates for large application estates.
• Engineer reliability, latency, observability, and efficiency for enterprise-scale systems.
• Mentor junior engineers, influence technical practices, and contribute to permanent engineering documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or a related technical or analytical discipline.
• 7+ years of relevant software development experience with a bachelor’s degree, or 5+ years with a master’s degree in a related field.
• Strong distributed-systems experience, including retries, idempotency, partial failures, long-running tasks, and recovery.
• Strong software engineering, data-pipeline, and observability skills with experience owning production services end to end.
• Experience using AI coding assistants and evaluating, coaching, and selectively applying AI-generated code in production.
• Exceptional ability to communicate complex technical architectures verbally, visually, and in writing.

Nice to have

• Expertise in code search, repository intelligence, or developer tools.
• Experience with legacy codebases and workflow modernization.
• Experience with enterprise platforms such as Salesforce or ServiceNow.
