Project Manager (Quantum Technology)

What you will do

• Plan and manage technical and R&D projects from work breakdown through delivery, including schedules, dependencies, milestones, and budgets.
• Coordinate engineering, product, finance, operations, technical leads, and external partners across work packages.
• Run project meetings and status reviews while tracking tasks and deliverables in Jira and Confluence.
• Identify risks, delays, and resourcing gaps early and drive corrective actions.
• Prepare transparent project updates for leadership and non-specialist audiences.
• Own reporting to German public funders and support the selection, approval, and initiation of new grant projects.

Requirements

• Degree in engineering, physics, project management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 3 years of project management or project coordination experience, ideally in high-tech, deep-tech, research, or scientific organizations.
• Experience with grant management, research administration, or collaborative R&D coordination in Germany, including work with German funding agencies or ministries.
• Hands-on experience with work breakdowns, scheduling, dependency mapping, Jira, Confluence, and structured documentation.
• Ability to work with ambiguity, align teams without direct authority, mediate competing priorities, and communicate with technical and non-technical audiences.
• Professional English and German at C1 level required.

Nice to have

• Project management certification such as PMP, IPMA, PRINCE2, or Agile/Scrum.
• Experience with European programmes such as Horizon Europe.
• Knowledge of quantum computing, semiconductors, cryogenics, quantum hardware R&D, or quantum software and algorithms.
• Experience establishing project management practices or tools in a scaling organization.
