Lead Mechanical Engineer, Vehicle Engineering

Location: Hawthorne, California, United States; onsite

Salary: $157,000–$190,000 per year

What you will do

• Define best practices for structures design, analysis, and testing with leadership and design counterparts.
• Design mechanical and thermal platforms at the architectural level.
• Develop tools and infrastructure to improve engineering team and company efficiency.
• Set team priorities and manage progress through multiple program phases.
• Develop and train junior mechanical engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a science, technology, engineering, or mathematics field.
• 4+ years of design experience at a space company.
• Experience with space-industry design principles, finite element analysis, and test design and execution.
• Experience developing hardware to space-industry standards and leading a design program from start to finish.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers, contractors, and interns.
• Ability to work onsite in Hawthorne, California.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in a STEM field.
• Experience with NASA technical standards for design, analysis, and testing.
• Experience with structural dynamics analysis and test methods.
• Experience with thermal analysis methods and tools.
