Staff Software Engineer (Java/Backend)

What you will do

• Design, implement, scale, and maintain backend systems processing large volumes of data.
• Build event-driven and REST API-based integrations.
• Contribute to migration toward a scalable, domain-based architecture.
• Develop and optimize software for performance-sensitive, high-throughput, low-latency production workflows.
• Investigate complex technical problems and propose solutions with engineering and data science partners.
• Influence junior and mid-level engineers while working autonomously across the Outcomes, Methodology, and Recruitment teams.

Requirements

• 10+ years of backend software engineering experience with strong technical depth.
• Strong Java experience or willingness to move from another language to Java, hirify.global’s core language.
• Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, Big O notation, and event-driven architecture.
• Experience with Spark, Apache ecosystem tools, Delta Lake, Parquet, Kafka, Python or PySpark, Docker, SQL, and NoSQL databases.
• Experience building or maintaining complex real-time, high-volume, high-throughput, low-latency systems and REST APIs.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaborative working skills; a computer science or related degree is preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS, GCP, or other cloud providers.
• Experience with Pandas, Spring, microservices, or large-scale data and analytics environments.
