Staff Software Engineer (Java)

What you will do

• Design, implement, scale, and maintain backend systems processing large volumes of data.
• Build event-driven and REST API-based integrations.
• Contribute to migration toward a scalable, domain-based architecture.
• Develop and optimize performance-sensitive, production-critical software.
• Investigate complex technical problems and propose solutions with engineering and data science colleagues.
• Collaborate across the Outcomes, Methodology, and Recruitment teams while influencing junior and mid-level engineers.

Requirements

• 10+ years of backend software engineering experience with strong technical depth.
• Strong Java capabilities or willingness to transition to Java, hirify.global's core language, with knowledge of algorithms, data structures, Big O notation, and event-driven architecture.
• Experience with large-scale data processing tools such as Spark, Apache ecosystem tools, Delta Lake, Parquet, Kafka, and Avro.
• Experience with Python or PySpark, Docker, SQL, NoSQL databases, REST APIs, and event-driven integrations.
• Experience building or maintaining complex real-time, high-volume, high-throughput, low-latency systems.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaborative development skills; a computer science or related degree is preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS, GCP, or other cloud providers.
• Experience with Pandas, Spring, microservices, or large-scale data and analytics environments.
