Manager, AI/ML Engineering

Annual base salary: $161,000–$221,500

What you will do

• Lead and scale an AI/ML engineering team through mentoring, performance management, career development, and technical guidance.
• Own quarterly planning and execution of AI/ML workstreams, including clinical program mapping.
• Partner with Product Management and Data Science to convert complex clinical requirements into robust, safety-oriented production models.
• Oversee the ML software development lifecycle, including design reviews, dataset lineage, automated evaluation, and the transition from research to production.
• Guide the deployment of stable microservices on Kubernetes and provide architectural direction for scalable cloud-native systems.
• Build an inclusive, high-performance engineering culture based on knowledge sharing, mentorship, and rigorous technical standards.

Requirements

• Experience leading and scaling high-performing ML/AI engineering teams in production environments.
• Strong people leadership, performance management, strategic planning, and cross-functional communication skills.
• Deep expertise in machine learning systems, including transformers, neural networks, and fine-tuning.
• Mastery of the ML SDLC, including dataset lineage, automated evaluation, and large-scale microservice deployment.
• Experience architecting cloud-native solutions on AWS or equivalent cloud providers.
• Ability to work remotely from the USA.

Nice to have

• High-performance production engineering experience with Java or Kotlin.
• Experience with HIPAA, SOC2, PHI, and PII in regulated healthcare environments.
• Experience building internal developer platforms or ML tooling for data scientists and engineers.
