Manager, Software Engineering (AI)

Location: Hybrid in Calgary, Toronto, or Edmonton, Canada

What you will do

• Lead a delivery pod and set architectural direction for robust, scalable solutions aligned with company standards.
• Champion AI-assisted development using tools such as Claude Code and establish this approach as the default for the pod.
• Remove engineering blockers, facilitate technical discussions, and coordinate on-time, on-scope delivery with the delivery team.
• Manage engineers through regular 1:1s, feedback, career development, performance support, and wellbeing conversations.
• Ensure solution quality, explainability, fairness, and auditability from design through deployment.
• Communicate progress, risks, and outcomes with stakeholders and clients; support pre-sales through architecture input, demos, and technical Q&A.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 2 years in a technical lead or management role.
• Fluent, hands-on experience with AI coding tools such as Claude Code or equivalent.
• Experience driving architectural decisions and maintaining engineering quality in a fast-paced delivery environment.
• Experience managing and developing engineers across different levels.
• Ability to communicate technical complexity clearly with clients and stakeholders.
• Familiarity with AI/ML solutions, modern MLOps, software delivery practices, responsible AI, and inclusive team culture.
