Senior Commercial Underwriting Counsel (Real Estate)

Location: Chicago, Illinois, USA; hybrid preferred, remote within the USA considered

Salary: $129,300–$172,300 annually

What you will do

• Provide underwriting support, counsel, and authorization for real estate title insurance commitments and policies.
• Apply underwriting standards and guidelines within delegated authority limits.
• Advise employees and customers on commercial real estate title and settlement matters.
• Guide company personnel in delivering real estate settlement services.
• Issue underwriting standards and guidelines in accordance with established company processes.

Requirements

• 8–10 years of title underwriting experience; commercial experience is preferred.
• Law degree required and admission to practice law in the state of employment.
• Active law license in good standing.
• Familiarity with real estate law and title and settlement processes.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to provide alternative solutions, communicate difficult information tactfully, and make decisive decisions.
