Assistant General Counsel - Corporate Commercial (Hybrid)

Location: Hybrid role based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Chicago, Illinois; Washington, DC; or Baltimore, Maryland

Salary: $167,200–$229,900 per year, plus an annual bonus of 20% for eligible positions

What you will do

• Handle complex commercial, corporate, procurement, and transactional legal matters for business units.
• Provide legal advice, review contracts, draft and negotiate agreements and deal terms, and advise on legal and business risks.
• Coordinate with litigation teams on warranty, breach, and other performance matters.
• Support utility-related service agreements and transactions governed by electric or gas tariffs, laws, and regulations.
• Prepare budgets and early matter assessments for matters involving outside counsel.
• Provide project leadership, training, and direction to less experienced attorneys and support staff.

Requirements

• LLB or JD from an accredited law school.
• Licensed to practice law in the relevant jurisdictions.
• 7–10 years of professional experience in a specialized area of law.
• Comprehensive knowledge of legal principles, practices, and procedures, with strong legal research and analytical skills.
• Ability to communicate clearly, analyze legal materials and data, and work under time deadlines.
• Ability to learn and use AI-enabled tools for legal research, drafting, and analysis while applying professional judgment.
