TL;DR
Manufacturing Technician I (Medical Devices) (Electromechanical Assembly/Robotics): Building and testing robotic surgical system modules and components for the OTTAVA Surgical Robotic Platform with an accent on regulated medical device assembly, quality documentation, and production readiness. Focus on performing precise electromechanical assembly, conducting functional and electrical tests, recording results in manufacturing systems, and maintaining compliance with ISO 13485 and FDA QSR requirements.

Location: Onsite in Milpitas, California, United States; initial training at the Santa Clara, California site. Regular schedule is Monday–Friday, 2:00 PM–10:30 PM, with training from 6:00 AM–2:30 PM. Occasional weekends and overtime may be required.

What you will do

  • Assemble electromechanical robotic modules, joints, control modules, and cable harnesses using work instructions and engineering documentation.
  • Build, verify, and validate mechanical and electromechanical components in a structured production environment.
  • Perform functional, electrical, and mechanical tests using calibrated tools, fixtures, torque equipment, and multimeters.
  • Document assembly steps, inspection results, and test outcomes in MES, ERP/SAP, and electronic DHR systems.
  • Prepare production lines, verify equipment and material readiness, perform material transactions and cycle counts, and report shortages or discrepancies.
  • Support manufacturing engineering with line setup, process clarifications, troubleshooting, inspections, and quality verifications.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, plus 0–2 years of manufacturing or assembly experience in medical devices, electromechanical systems, regulated industries, or equivalent military experience.
  • Knowledge of Good Documentation Practices or familiarity with FDA-regulated and ISO-certified environments.
  • Proficiency with torque wrenches, screwdrivers, calipers, multimeters, presses, and similar assembly tools.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including overtime and weekend shifts.
  • Ability to work onsite in Milpitas, California, and attend initial training at the Santa Clara site.
  • Ability to maintain certification and proficiency on at least one designated module while meeting safety, quality, and training requirements.

Nice to have

  • Vocational certificate or technical training.
  • Experience with ComplianceWire, MES, SAP, or similar systems.
  • Exposure to robotics or surgical device assembly.
