Equipment Reliability Engineer (CNC Manufacturing)

Location: Los Angeles, United States; onsite industrial environment. Requires support for off-shift, weekend, or on-call work and up to 10% travel. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or nationals, lawful permanent residents, refugees, asylees, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. export authorizations.

Salary: $115,000–$150,000 per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Develop and execute the equipment reliability roadmap for CNC machine tools and other critical manufacturing assets.
• Troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical, electrical, controls, hydraulic, pneumatic, and precision-motion failures, coordinating OEM and specialist support.
• Create preventive and predictive maintenance plans based on criticality, OEM guidance, failure history, and condition data.
• Build and administer the CMMS, including asset records, preventive-maintenance libraries, work orders, labor and downtime tracking, spare-parts data, and dashboards.
• Manage critical spare-parts strategy, reliability metrics, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions.
• Commission new or relocated equipment and lead reliability improvement projects with vendors and cross-functional partners.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, industrial, mechatronics engineering, or a related technical field with 3+ years of relevant hands-on experience; alternatively, 8+ years of progressively responsible industrial maintenance or equipment reliability experience.
• Substantial experience with CNC machine tools, automated production equipment, or comparable complex manufacturing assets.
• Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance, equipment criticality, spare-parts strategy, root-cause analysis, FMEA, and reliability metrics.
• Experience with CMMS implementation, equipment commissioning, maintenance handoff, and technical documentation.
• Ability to work safely in an industrial environment, train technicians, coordinate vendors, and remain effective during breakdowns.
• Must satisfy U.S. export-control eligibility requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience with factory or site acceptance, installation, validation, training, and maintenance handoff for CNC or automated manufacturing systems.
• Project management experience with equipment upgrades, relocations, overhauls, shutdowns, or reliability improvements.
