  • Lead the design, analysis, build, and testing of turbomachinery for nuclear reactors.
  • Translate system requirements into turbomachinery requirements, interfaces, and verification plans.
  • Coordinate aerodynamics, mechanical design, structures, rotordynamics, bearings, thermal analysis, manufacturing, and testing activities.
  • Define development and test plans that retire the highest technical risks early.
  • Work with suppliers and manufacturing, test, and quality engineers to resolve issues, implement corrective actions, and deliver hardware on schedule.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 7+ years of full-cycle design engineering experience, including production-intent drawings and models, GD&T, and tolerance stack-up.
  • Working knowledge of turbomachinery and high-speed rotating machinery.
  • Ability to make tradeoffs involving performance, manufacturability, cost, risk, and schedule.
  • Ability to break down complex engineering problems, coordinate and delegate technical work, and drive issues to closure.
  • Applicants must meet U.S. Government export-control requirements: U.S. citizen or national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or eligible to obtain the required authorizations.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 8+ years of experience designing and owning turbomachinery.
  • Experience as a responsible engineer, design owner, technical lead, or equivalent for complex hardware.
  • Experience working directly with suppliers and manufacturing teams.
  • Proficiency with NX, ANSYS Mechanical, and CFX.

Culture & Benefits

  • Significant stock option package in addition to salary.
  • Values systems thinking, user focus, unconventional solutions, direct stakeholder engagement, and operating effectively amid uncertainty.
  • Deep work can be performed remotely, while the organization emphasizes in-person team collaboration.
  • Flexibility is required for hardware milestones, including occasional weekends or extended hours.
