Reactor Operations Engineer (Nuclear)

Salary: $105,000–$130,000 per year, plus equity

hirify.global is a startup developing mass-produced, portable nuclear microreactors, including the 1-megawatt Kaleidos reactor for critical power applications.

What you will do

• Develop and refine operational procedures for software and hardware-in-the-loop testing.
• Translate complex hardware and software designs into clear, executable procedures for reactor operators.
• Collaborate with engineers to improve operator interfaces, procedural workflows, and software tools.
• Support testing and iterative improvement of digital twin scenarios, operator systems, and human-machine interfaces.
• Ensure procedural documentation complies with DOE and NRC standards for formatting, clarity, and usability.
• Gain hands-on experience validating procedures against real-world execution during testing and commissioning activities.

Requirements

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Graduation in December 2026 or Spring 2027.
• Experience managing or optimizing complex hardware and software processes for testing and operations.
• Ability to apply first-principles thinking and make decisions in uncertain or ambiguous situations.
• Ability to work on-site in El Segundo, California.
• Work involving technology subject to U.S. export controls requires compliance with applicable U.S. export-control requirements.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience developing technical procedures, applying human factors engineering, or designing operational interfaces.
• Proficiency in Python and UNIX for procedure testing in simulator environments.
• Experience creating human-centered instructions for operational workflows.
