R&D Intern - Biostatistics

Location: Jacksonville, Florida, United States; fully onsite

What you will do

• Execute a research and development project involving an eye-health product, enabling technology, or internal R&D operations.
• Conduct fundamental statistical research, clinical data analysis, and simulation studies.
• Evaluate meta-analytic methodologies, including random-effects and network meta-analysis, for clinical research questions and endpoint types.
• Develop validated and reproducible R and/or SAS code.
• Review project progress and results across functional groups while collaborating with scientists, engineers, and other technical disciplines.
• Build presentation and statistical communication skills through clinical research activities.

Requirements

• At least one year completed in a PhD program in Statistical Sciences, Biostatistics, or a related field; candidates nearing program completion are preferred.
• Experience with SAS and/or R, with solid R programming knowledge desirable.
• Knowledge of data analysis methodologies, random-effects models, clinical trial concepts, and simulation coding.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with guidance from the Biostatistics team.
• Must be permanently authorized to work in the United States without current or future employment visa sponsorship.
• Must remain enrolled in the academic program, work 40 hours per week during the internship, and have a minimum GPA of 3.0.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of random-effects or network meta-analysis methodologies.
• Strong written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
