Commercial Legal Director (Technology/Data)

What you will do

• Draft, review, negotiate, and close SaaS, platform, publisher, data, licensing, marketing, media, NDA, and strategic partnership agreements.
• Advise Sales, Partnerships, Product, Engineering, Finance, and People stakeholders on commercial and contractual risks.
• Develop a deep understanding of data flows and technology to support innovative commercial deal structures.
• Partner with commercial teams on deal structuring, product reviews, and contract execution.
• Maintain and improve contract templates and playbooks to increase consistency and execution speed.
• Support legal risk analysis, process improvements, and knowledge management across the Legal team.

Requirements

• Active membership in at least one U.S. state bar in good standing is required.
• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• 8+ years of legal experience focused on commercial transactions in private practice, in-house technology, or a combination of both.
• Experience drafting and negotiating commercial and technology agreements, including SaaS, data, advertising, or partnership deals.
• Strong understanding of privacy, data governance, AI, and the EU AI Act.
• Excellent communication, drafting, negotiation, business judgment, and stakeholder-management skills.
