Associate General Counsel (Residential Real Estate)

Location: Hybrid, based in the New York City office with in-office work on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. New York-based candidates are preferred; candidates may also be considered in Washington, DC, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, or Washington.

Salary: $225,000–$260,000 annual base pay for New York City-based applicants. Stock options, incentive pay, and benefits may also be provided.

What you will do

• Advise independently across commercial and regulatory legal matters, with a focus on residential real estate products and services.
• Lead commercial partnerships and drive transactions from inception through execution.
• Support the mortgage business in developing compliant products, services, policies, controls, and expansion into additional states.
• Help title companies innovate and streamline service delivery while maintaining compliance with state laws and regulations.
• Partner with Product and Engineering teams to design customer offerings and balance innovation, growth, and legal risk.
• Engage with state regulators, manage outside counsel, and contribute to data privacy, information security, and financing matters.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of commercial and/or regulatory legal experience, ideally across law firm and in-house roles.
• Strong experience with commercial contracts and leading negotiations with large companies.
• Experience with residential real estate, mortgage lending, title insurance, and settlement services regulations, including RESPA, TILA, the Fair Housing Act, ECOA, and GLBA.
• Ability to work independently, exercise judgment, manage competing priorities, and collaborate across functions.
• Experience with data privacy regimes and related policies and procedures is beneficial but not required.
• State bar admission in good standing.
