Head of Legal (Proptech)

Location: Remote (United States)

Salary: $200,000–$250,000 USD per year, adjusted by experience, skills, and U.S. geographic labor-market tier.

What you will do

• Draft, review, and negotiate partnership, vendor, SaaS, licensing, and other commercial agreements.
• Own compliance across data privacy, fair housing, consumer protection, and residential rental regulations.
• Support board meetings, corporate structuring, fundraising, investor matters, and board communications.
• Advise product and engineering teams on feature development, consumer-facing policies, intellectual property, and platform risk.
• Advise on employment matters, coordinate outside counsel on litigation and disputes, and maintain legal playbooks, templates, and intake processes.

Requirements

• JD from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with at least one state bar.
• At least 5 years of legal experience in a law firm, in-house role, or combination.
• Meaningful experience negotiating complex commercial contracts.
• Experience supporting a board of directors, including preparing materials, drafting resolutions, and managing communications.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain legal complexity clearly to non-lawyers.
• Experience in SaaS, real estate, proptech, or a two-sided marketplace; familiarity with venture-backed companies, litigation, and M&A.
