Manufacturing Engineering Intern Spring 2027 (Aerospace)

Location: Wallops Island, Virginia, United States; full-time, on-site for at least 12 consecutive weeks beginning January, February, or March 2027.

Salary: $25.00 USD per hour. A relocation-cost stipend may be available.

What you will do

• Support the development of manufacturing processes for receipt, final integration, and launch of the Neutron Launch Vehicle.
• Identify and design equipment needed for vehicle integration and launch operations.
• Collaborate with the Neutron Vehicle Integration Engineer and other integration, test, and launch specialists.
• Apply engineering and industry concepts to solve practical manufacturing challenges.
• Lead development projects, provide progress updates, and collaborate across teams under mentorship.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in engineering, physics, or mathematics, with at least one semester remaining after the internship.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA.
• At least 3 months of applied engineering experience through an internship, laboratory work, or personal/team projects.
• Must be able to work full-time on-site in Wallops Island, Virginia, for a minimum of 12 consecutive weeks.
• For U.S. office work, must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, lawfully admitted refugee or asylee, or eligible to obtain the authorizations required under U.S. space technology export regulations.

Nice to have

• GPA of 3.5 or above.
• At least 6 months of applied engineering experience.
• Basic proficiency in Python, SQL, or automation scripting.
• Solid modeling and CAD/CAM experience.
• Interest in identifying and driving process improvement opportunities.
