Lead Backend Data Engineer (Java)

What you will do

• Design and build scalable, production-grade backend systems with Java.
• Lead the architecture and implementation of distributed systems for large-scale data processing.
• Develop concurrent and multithreaded applications using synchronization patterns, locks, barriers, atomic operations, and related techniques.
• Build and maintain high-volume data pipelines and infrastructure with Apache Spark and Apache Airflow.
• Manage Kubernetes workloads, deployment strategies, scaling policies, and resource allocation for backend services.
• Define APIs and service contracts, implement observability, support production deployments, troubleshoot complex issues, and mentor engineers.

Requirements

• Deep proficiency in Java and advanced language features.
• Strong expertise in concurrency, multithreading, synchronization, atomic operations, and volatile semantics.
• Hands-on experience designing distributed systems at scale.
• Strong SQL skills, including query and schema design and optimization.
• Experience with Apache Spark, Apache Airflow, Kubernetes, system profiling, performance analysis, and optimization.
• Advanced English is required for communication with global teams; 5+ years of backend, systems, or related engineering experience is required.

Nice to have

• Spring Framework, Kafka, reactive programming, Apache Pinot, Terraform, or Infrastructure as Code experience.
• Experience with GitLab CI, Jenkins, GCP, other cloud platforms, or AI-assisted development tools.
• Familiarity with Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, or similar monitoring and observability tools.
