Platform Hardware Design Engineer

Location: Hillsboro, Oregon, United States. Hybrid work model with time split between the assigned Intel site and off-site work.

Annual salary: $164,470–$232,190 USD.

What you will do

• Drive end-to-end platform hardware development from system requirements through customer delivery.
• Translate platform requirements into circuit and component specifications, including electronic parts, PCB designs, and integrated circuitry.
• Lead schematic capture, component definition, placement rules, circuit trace routing, board layout, and tapeout.
• Evaluate BOM cost, component availability, design trade-offs, compatibility, and system-level performance.
• Conduct hardware research, verification, development, testing, and evaluation of firmware, circuitry, thermal solutions, packaging, and chassis.
• Collaborate with architects, verification engineers, project managers, manufacturing, and technicians on board power-on, debugging, and system bring-up.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field with 7+ years of hands-on experience, or a Master's degree with 5+ years, or a PhD with 3+ years.
• Professional experience with PCB design and layout, component specifications, and routing rules.
• Experience in hardware debugging, electrical interface design, and mixed-signal and analog fundamentals.
• Knowledge of CMOS technologies, digital and analog board design, and power-on fundamentals.
• Ability to analyze platform-level design trade-offs and optimize system compatibility.
• Strong collaboration, communication, multitasking, and technical issue-resolution skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with board assembly manufacturing flows and power analysis techniques.
• Experience resolving system bring-up issues and leading technical development activities.
• Experience producing technical documentation and contributing to platform validation strategies.
