Location: United States, including Mountain View, Boulder, Virginia, the San Francisco Bay Area, and San Mateo; remote work is available across Eastern and Central Time Zones in the US, with some Bay Area positions onsite.
Salary: $200,000–$300,000 annually, plus equity; compensation varies by experience, expertise, and location.
Company
is partnering with a well-funded, early-stage AI hardware startup developing an AI inference platform that combines custom silicon, systems, and software.
What you will do
- Design accelerator boards and system hardware, including schematics, PCB layout guidance, high-speed digital interfaces, clocking, and power delivery.
- Develop power delivery networks for high-performance accelerator silicon and optimize board-to-package interfaces with packaging and signal/power integrity engineers.
- Bring up new hardware in the laboratory through electrical characterization, debugging, and validation.
- Select components and drive design-for-manufacturing and design-for-test activities through fabrication, assembly, validation, and yield improvement.
- Collaborate with silicon, packaging, firmware, signal integrity, power integrity, and thermal engineering teams to resolve system-level electrical issues.
- Use and help develop AI-assisted engineering workflows for hardware design, validation, and debugging.
Requirements
- BS or MS in Electrical Engineering and 5+ years of experience designing complex board- or system-level hardware.
- Experience with schematic capture and PCB design using Altium, Cadence Allegro, or comparable tools.
- Hands-on experience designing high-speed digital systems with DDR/LPDDR, PCIe, SerDes, or similar interfaces.
- Deep experience with board bring-up, electrical debugging, and laboratory validation.
- Strong understanding of signal integrity, power integrity, electromagnetic compatibility, and board-level electrical design.
- Ability to collaborate across multiple engineering disciplines in a fast-paced startup environment.
Nice to have
- Experience with high-current power delivery networks for GPUs, AI accelerators, or other high-performance computing systems.
- Server or hyperscale platform design experience.
- FPGA-based hardware development or low-level firmware bring-up experience.
- Thermal co-design experience.
- Familiarity with electromagnetic simulation tools such as ANSYS HFSS or SIwave.
