Quality Engineer Intern (Manufacturing)

Crane Aerospace & Electronics develops aerospace and industrial products, including Resistoflex products manufactured in a regulated production environment.

What you will do

• Develop, implement, and sustain process control plans for manufacturing and transactional processes.
• Analyze internal and external quality escapes, coordinate containment, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Apply 5-Why, Six Sigma, statistical, and structured problem-solving methods to improve quality metrics and reduce Cost of Poor Quality.
• Support audits, inspections, customer quality reviews, and compliance with customer specifications and applicable standards.
• Perform measurement-system activities, including equipment calibration and Gage R&R studies.
• Support manufacturing teams with technical problem resolution, process audits, and quality improvement activities.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Quality, Chemical, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with quality systems, manufacturing processes, machining, fabrication, and assembly operations.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and related quality standards.
• Structured problem-solving ability with basic statistical skills; proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work with internal teams, suppliers, customers, and auditors.
• Ability to use required personal protective equipment, lift 25 pounds, and work occasional overtime or weekends.

Nice to have

• Exposure to lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and 5S practices.
• Experience with Minitab, data analysis, statistics, and applied mathematics.
• ASQ-CQE Quality Engineer certification.
• Experience with special processes such as painting, welding, and heat treating.
• Experience with process and product specifications and industrial manufacturing processes.
