Heavy Equipment Technician Apprentice (Diesel)

Location: Permanent shop assignment in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA; must travel to and live in Dallas, Texas for nine weeks of in-person training starting 19 October 2026.

What you will do

• Perform routine and preventive maintenance on diesel and non-diesel trucks and equipment.
• Inspect and identify components in starting and charging systems, air conditioning and heating systems, wheel ends, air systems, air brakes, and hydraulics.
• Complete hands-on shop work through the Republic Preventive Maintenance Program and other on-the-job assignments.
• Develop basic tire, wheel-end, mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical skills under direct supervision.
• Complete a two-year apprenticeship with company-paid institute training, mentorship, and virtual technical instruction.
• Progress toward Apprentice certification and potential advancement to Level C Technician after meeting required milestones.

Requirements

• Commitment to completing the two-year apprenticeship program.
• Logical problem-solving ability and an interest in engineering, vehicle technology, and ongoing learning.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some nights, weekends, or holidays.
• Willingness to uphold safety, ethics, respect, and company expectations.
• Must be willing to travel to and live in Dallas, Texas for nine weeks of in-person training.
