Manufacturing Technician (Avionics)

What you will do

• Test, troubleshoot, calibrate, overhaul, and repair mechanical, electromechanical, and electronic avionics instruments.
• Use schematics, drawings, customer specifications, technical publications, repair manuals, work instructions, and test procedures.
• Diagnose component-level problems with signal generators, oscilloscopes, power meters, spectrum analyzers, and other electronic test equipment.
• Document test findings, discrepancies, defects, logs, and product failures accurately and clearly.
• Verify the functionality of units under test and associated test equipment.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, quality, customer support, and other functional groups on projects and process improvements.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent with 6 years of relevant experience, or an associate degree with 2 years of related experience.
• At least 2 years of test experience in aerospace, military, or communications satellite hardware production.
• At least 2 years of experience troubleshooting RF and digital circuits to the component level.
• IPC-A-610 or J-STD-001 certification, or the ability to pass ESD, IPC-A-610, and J-STD-001 certification requirements.
• Ability to work from electronic schematics, diagrams, drawings, specifications, and test procedures.
• Ability to work on-site in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Nice to have

• Associate degree in electronics or an equivalent technical discipline.
• Experience with environmental testing, product monitoring, statistical process control, and equipment calibration.
• Advanced experience with signal generators, oscilloscopes, power meters, spectrum analyzers, coaxial cable measurement, and emulators.
• Good hand-eye coordination for microscope-based work and working knowledge of electronic theory, analog circuitry, and digital circuitry.
• Experience maintaining electronic technician product-failure databases and working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
