Avionics Technician III (Aerospace)

Location: Dayton, Ohio, United States; work includes office and field environments with frequent travel to customer locations.

What you will do

• Lead the installation and maintenance of avionics equipment and systems.
• Diagnose and repair complex avionics issues using technical documentation and diagnostic equipment.
• Conduct comprehensive testing and document maintenance activities accurately.
• Ensure work complies with FCC, FAA, company, and safety standards.
• Train and mentor junior technicians.
• Travel frequently to customer locations and work in office, field, industrial, and confined-space environments.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent and 3+ years of relevant experience; a higher-level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
• Advanced knowledge of avionics systems, troubleshooting, wiring, wiring repair, installation, soldering, crimping, and installation tooling.
• Ability to interpret technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals, and publications, and route wires according to technical drawings.
• Own tools in good working order.
• U.S. citizenship is required because the role requires the ability to obtain and maintain an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand and walk for extended periods, work at heights and in confined spaces, and follow safety protocols in potentially hazardous environments.

Nice to have

• Associate’s degree in Avionics, Electronics, or a related field.
• Expert soldering skills and experience with advanced diagnostic tools.
• FCC General Radio Operator License (GROL) familiarity.
• Knowledge of spectrometers, oscilloscopes, or pitot-static equipment.
• Experience in aerospace and defense, the U.S. Department of Defense, or the U.S. military.
