Mechanical Engineer (HVAC)

Location: Hybrid role based in Merritt Island, Florida or Bethesda, Maryland, United States. Travel up to 25%. US citizenship is required for security clearance, along with an active, interim, or obtainable Secret Security Clearance.

Salary: $85,000–$100,000 per year in Merritt Island or $105,000–$125,000 per year in Bethesda, plus performance-based bonuses.

What you will do

• Design mechanical and plumbing components and systems for facility projects.
• Develop HVAC, fire protection, and life safety system designs.
• Perform thermal and fluid dynamics calculations, engineering analysis, equipment selection, and energy efficiency assessments.
• Coordinate mechanical systems with other disciplines and support site design, permitting, construction administration, and field activities.
• Prepare project documentation, design specifications, test plans, progress reports, and deliverables.
• Support quality control, facility condition assessments, capital asset management planning, and issue resolution with customers, contractors, and project teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 5+ years of professional Mechanical Engineering experience.
• Ability to obtain PE certification within 1–2 years; EIT certification is preferred.
• Working knowledge of ASHRAE, ASME, NFPA, NEC, UFC, and UFC codes.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and a valid, unrestricted Florida driver’s license.
• US citizenship and an active, interim, or obtainable Secret Security Clearance are required.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of FBC, IBC, IMC, IPC, AFMAN, or SSMAN requirements.
• Experience with CAD, Revit, Bluebeam Revu, or other modeling and drafting software.
• EIT certification.
