Risk Specialist

Location: Hybrid in Amsterdam, Noord-Holland, Netherlands

What you will do

• Define, maintain, and drive the risk management framework, including policies, controls, risk appetite principles, and the risk roadmap.
• Lead fraud detection and investigations by developing detection rules, managing alerts, and investigating suspected incidents involving customers, employees, and third parties.
• Develop KRIs, dashboards, and risk reporting to identify emerging risks, prioritise follow-up, and communicate findings to operational teams and the Managing and Supervisory Board.
• Advise senior stakeholders and embed risk and control considerations into decision-making and cross-functional projects.
• Build risk and control awareness across departments and coach risk champions to strengthen first-line risk ownership.
• Work closely with Operations, Construction, Product & Engineering, Finance, and Legal & Compliance.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in risk management, internal control, or a similar role.
• Strong understanding and practical application of risk concepts and control frameworks.
• Experience building or shaping risk practices in an evolving, fast-growing organisation.
• Practical experience with fraud risk and knowledge of fraud typologies.
• Strong written and spoken English required; Dutch is an advantage.
• Strong analytical, communication, interpersonal, organisational, and stakeholder-management skills, with high integrity and confidentiality.

Nice to have

• Experience in a listed company, scale-up, or fast-growing organisation.
• Experience with data models, dashboards, BI or AI tools, and SQL.
• Relevant professional certification or a bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Data or Information Science, Law, or an equivalent field.
