Substance Abuse Counselor

Location: On-site in Columbia, Missouri, USA

Salary: $21.00–$24.00 hourly plus bonus structure

What you will do

• Provide individual and group counseling for patients recovering from drug and alcohol disorders.
• Guide new and returning patients through intake and orientation.
• Develop, update, and maintain individualized treatment plans and accurate patient records.
• Connect patients with community resources, coordinate referrals, and complete follow-ups.
• Assess patients’ social, educational, economic, and vocational needs.
• Respond to crisis situations and comply with applicable regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• Must meet state-level requirements.
• Required certifications or licenses: MAADC, CRADC, or CADC.
• Ability to make sound decisions when handling confidential and sensitive issues.
• Knowledge of substance-use populations, treatment planning, human behavior, and social services.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment with prolonged standing, bending, and alternating between sitting and standing.
• Ability to use required personal protective equipment and perform frequent keyboarding and computer work.

Nice to have

• Experience in behavioral health.
• Experience working with substance abuse populations and treatment planning.
