Software Engineer, Online Giving (Ruby on Rails/React)

Location: Remote-first role based in the United States; attendance at multiple company-wide and team-specific onsites is expected throughout the year.

hirify.global operates a fundraising platform for nonprofit educational institutions, helping schools manage charitable giving and fundraising campaigns.

What you will do

• Build and maintain donor-facing giving forms, giving pages, and administrative tools with a focus on conversion, accessibility, and mobile-first design.
• Develop reliable one-time, recurring, membership, ACH, Stripe, and digital wallet payment flows.
• Work across the full stack, including React components, backend services, database queries, APIs, and performance optimization.
• Own small-to-medium projects from technical design and breakdown through coding, automated testing, deployment, and production support.
• Collaborate with technical leads, product managers, designers, and engineers through Agile planning, estimation, code review, and delivery.
• Participate in rotational platform support and paired 24/7 on-call coverage, including payment reconciliation and recurring-gift issue resolution.

Requirements

• 3+ years of hands-on software development experience.
• Full-stack experience with a modern frontend framework and backend language/framework; Ruby on Rails and React are preferred.
• Strong SQL skills, including schema design, query optimization, and data integrity.
• Experience with RESTful APIs, unit/integration/end-to-end testing, cloud platforms, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Ability to contribute to technical design, break down features, debug production issues, and own work through deployment and maintenance.
• Ability to work from the United States and attend multiple onsite events during the year.

Nice to have

• Payments experience with Stripe or comparable platforms, ACH, digital wallets, webhooks, idempotency, retries, reconciliation, or third-party payment testing.
• Ruby on Rails and RSpec experience.
• Experience with consumer checkout, donation, fundraising, crowdfunding, fintech, or ecommerce products.
• Experience with caching, observability, performance, and stability troubleshooting.
• Strong frontend product and usability instincts.
