Senior Staff Software Engineer (AI)

Location: New York or San Francisco offices with an office-centric hybrid schedule; standard in-office days are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, with work-from-home options on Wednesday and potentially Friday depending on the role.

Salary: $323,500–$336,750 base salary per year, plus potential equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Drive developer productivity and AI developer tooling projects impacting more than 500 developers.
• Define technical vision and strategy for six or more engineering teams with the Developer Productivity Group Tech Lead.
• Build the development platform roadmap to improve software lifecycle feedback loops and engineering velocity.
• Extend internal tooling that enables engineers to delegate work to agents across harnesses.
• Mentor senior and staff-level engineers across Developer Productivity, Foundations, and Engineering.
• Support technical leads with long-term planning, architecture, design, and technical debt prioritization.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience as a technical contributor on large-scale products.
• 2+ years owning a build system, developer environment, CI, or equivalent at an organization with 200+ engineers.
• Experience making and delegating technical decisions with organization-wide impact.
• Fluency in current AI developer tooling and the ability to set technical direction.
• Strong coaching, mentoring, collaboration, and inclusive leadership skills.
• Curiosity about AI tools and emerging technologies, with willingness to apply them to productivity, collaboration, and decision-making.
