Senior Software Engineer (Backend/High-Performance Computing)

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain backend services and REST/gRPC APIs.
• Design schemas, tune queries, and maintain data integrity across relational and non-relational databases.
• Implement and troubleshoot inter-process communication, messaging, and service-to-service protocols.
• Develop backend systems in C# and Java and highly optimized compute models in C++.
• Apply concurrency, synchronization, multiprocessing, profiling, and benchmarking techniques to optimize performance-critical code.
• Participate in architecture decisions, code reviews, technical mentorship, testing, documentation, and CI/CD practices.

Requirements

• Must be based in Canada; the role is remote and Canada-only.
• Strong proficiency in C# and Java for backend development.
• Strong C++ skills for high-performance compute work.
• Understanding of concurrency, synchronization primitives, threading, and multiprocessing.
• Strong mathematical proficiency in numerical methods, linear algebra, or applied mathematics.
• Experience with API design, database design, IPC mechanisms, and optimization of compute- and memory-intensive workloads.

Nice to have

• Experience with parallel and high-performance computing, SIMD/vectorization, GPU technologies such as CUDA or OpenCL, or distributed compute with MPI.
• Experience in scientific, geospatial, simulation, or physics-based modeling.
• Familiarity with AWS, Azure, GCP, Docker, or Kubernetes.
• Experience building and operating low-latency, high-throughput data or compute pipelines.
• Knowledge of observability, testing, and performance-regression practices.
