Lead Security Engineer

Location: Remote within the U.S. or in-office in New York City

Salary: $150,000–$200,000 annual base salary, plus eligible incentive compensation

What you will do

• Own the security program, including strategy, architecture, policies, risk management, operating cadence, and measurable roadmap outcomes.
• Partner with SRE to design and operate secure cloud and infrastructure foundations covering identity, access controls, vulnerability management, configuration assurance, logging, detection, and incident readiness.
• Improve application and product security through secure design, threat modeling, security reviews, testing, and remediation guidance.
• Lead third-party risk, security awareness, audits, and compliance activities including SOC 2.
• Coach engineers, SREs, and business partners while establishing clear security ownership and standards.
• Communicate security strategy, risk, trade-offs, progress, and investment priorities to executives and stakeholders.

Requirements

• Experience owning significant parts of an information security program while delivering strategic improvements and hands-on technical work.
• Broad expertise across cloud, infrastructure, application, data, identity, and corporate security environments.
• Experience partnering with SRE, platform, and software engineering teams to integrate security into operational and delivery workflows.
• Strong technical judgment in security monitoring, vulnerability management, incident response, security architecture, and risk-based prioritization.
• Ability to operate independently in a fast-moving, resource-conscious environment with shifting priorities.
• Clear communication skills, executive presentation experience, and a collaborative player/coach mindset.
