Cloud Software Developer (AWS/NASA)

Location: Based out of Annapolis, Maryland, USA; remote/telework is available, with quarterly travel to Annapolis for three days for PI Planning. No relocation assistance is available.

What you will do

• Build cloud tools that enable scientists and students to discover, transform, update, and improve Earth Science data.
• Perform operations, maintenance, and software development for NASA Earthdata Cloud and EOSDIS.
• Develop and automate scalable cloud infrastructure using AWS, DevOps tools, and infrastructure-as-code solutions.
• Implement issue detection, alerting, high availability, data replication, and real-time recovery capabilities.
• Ensure compliance with operational agreements, NASA standards, program requirements, and Section 508.
• Analyze existing cloud infrastructure and communicate and implement improvement solutions in an Agile environment.

Requirements

• At least three years of experience with cloud services in an IaaS or PaaS environment.
• In-depth AWS knowledge, including networking, Lambda, Step Functions, IAM, and DevOps-related services.
• At least three years of programming or scripting experience with Node.js, TypeScript, C++, Bash, Python, or Java.
• Experience with DevOps automation tools such as Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Terraform, or CloudFormation.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field, plus at least three years of engineering experience.
• Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with customers, management, and technical contributors.

Nice to have

• Experience with Linux, Git, Bitbucket, Bamboo, GitLab, Jira, or Confluence.
• Full lifecycle development experience with large or complex n-tier client/server applications.
• AWS Solutions Architect or AWS Developer certification.
• Experience with Agile or SAFe methodology.
