Environmental Field Specialist I

Location: Portland, Oregon, US; customer work site at 2501 NE Century Boulevard, Hillsboro, Oregon 97124. The role requires working inside and outside in all weather conditions and standing for extended periods.

What you will do

• Perform customer-site hazardous waste technician duties and coordinate subcontractor activities when required.
• Prepare shipping documentation, classify waste, arrange sampling and submit waste profiles to treatment, storage, and disposal facilities.
• Complete site inspections, audits, rounds, readings, and safety training while following customer and company procedures.
• Coordinate customer waste pickups with the internal office, transporters, and disposal facilities.
• Maintain equipment, perform lubrication work, pump down outdoor sumps, and load or unload chemical tankers as needed.
• Wear required PPE, including Tyvek suits and respirators, and collaborate with technicians to deliver safe, customer-focused service.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One to three years of related operations experience preferred.
• Knowledge of RCRA, DOT, and EPA regulations and the ability to classify hazardous waste.
• Ability to learn proper hazardous-material and hazardous-waste handling methods.
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
• Customer service skills and the ability to work effectively in a field-based team.

Nice to have

• College-level background in chemistry, biology, environmental science, or comparable work experience.
• Detailed documented experience with RCRA, DOT, and EPA regulations.
• CHMM, RCRA, DOT, or other relevant certifications and endorsements.
