Senior Project Engineer - Stress (Aerospace)

Location: Belfast, United Kingdom; occasional travel within the UK.

What you will do

• Lead technical and commercial stress engineering activities for composite and metallic aircraft structures.
• Direct stress analysis for static strength, fatigue, and damage tolerance, supporting design development and certification.
• Define project technical scope, plans, budgets, and oversight of technical requirements and milestones.
• Review and approve drawings, design data, and certification reports.
• Work with design, loads, materials, manufacturing, and test engineering disciplines, customers, and certification authorities.
• Lead structural certification test specifications, test campaigns, design reviews, and assessment of test results.

Requirements

• BSc/BEng with at least 3 years of relevant stress engineering experience including management or project management responsibilities, or HNC/HND with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
• Technical leadership experience in stress analysis and sizing of primary aircraft structures made from metallic and composite materials.
• Experience with classical stress analysis and finite element analysis.
• Previous delegation for approval of stress-related drawings and certification reports.
• Ability to work independently and under pressure while delivering project milestones, with strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Subject to BPSS and Export Control checks, including a criminal record check.

Nice to have

• Experience with hirify.global stress methods, ISAMI, Goliath, NASGRO, hirify.global finite element modelling rules, or A220 and legacy Bombardier C-Series programmes.
• Experience sizing commercial aircraft wing structures and developing structural certification test requirements.
• Experience working with suppliers and engineering service provider teams.
• Experience developing and validating global and detailed finite element models against certification test results.
