RF Systems Engineer (Space)

Location: On-site in Chantilly, Virginia, United States; travel up to 20% within the continental United States.

Salary: $206,000–$240,000 USD annually.

What you will do

• Lead RF system calibration activities for space-based assets throughout the Transition Implementation Plan execution phase.
• Design, develop, and implement calibration procedures for transmit and receive RF chains in orbital environments.
• Develop and validate end-to-end calibration methodologies that account for thermal variations, radiation, vacuum, and other space-environment effects.
• Serve as a technical subject matter expert for RF calibration challenges in space operations.
• Interface with mission operations, ground systems, and payload teams to support calibration accuracy and mission performance.
• Troubleshoot on-orbit RF calibration anomalies and mentor engineering teams on calibration best practices and TIP activities.

Requirements

• Current TS/SCI Poly clearance is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, or a related technical field; a master’s degree is preferred.
• 8+ years of RF systems engineering experience focused on space-based applications.
• Demonstrated experience with Transition Implementation Plan operations and execution.
• Expertise in RF system calibration for both transmit and receive paths, including on-orbit calibration techniques.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve complex technical issues independently.

Nice to have

• Experience with satellite payload integration and testing.
• Knowledge of automated calibration procedures and scripting.
• Familiarity with mission operations concepts, ground system interfaces, RF measurement equipment, and analysis tools.
• Background in phased array systems, beamforming, or adaptive RF systems.
• Previous technical leadership or consulting experience on space programs.
