Staff Electrical Engineer, Radio Frequency (RF)

Location: Onsite near the Centennial or Long Beach locations in the United States

Base salary: $200,000–$310,000 per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Define architectures, design standards, and performance requirements for full spacecraft RF systems across multiple programs.
• Develop reusable RF performance tools, analysis models, and standard engineering methodologies.
• Establish RF test methods and resolve cross-system EMI/EMC issues across subsystems and programs.
• Lead system-level RF optimization, complex trade studies, and multi-stream technical programs.
• Coordinate cross-functional delivery, supplier development, subcontracts, and procurement activities.
• Mentor RF engineers and establish durable engineering practices across the organization.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; a Master’s degree or PhD is preferred.
• 10–14 years of experience designing and developing RF systems for aerospace applications.
• Experience defining RF system or payload architectures for spacecraft programs.
• Expertise in link budget analysis, antenna systems, EMC/EMI, space communication protocols, and RF simulation tools.
• Experience leading multi-team technical programs and influencing cross-functional decisions without direct authority.
• Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or eligible to obtain the required ITAR authorizations.

Nice to have

• Experience with S-, X-, or Ka-band communications, satellite link optimization, and software-defined radios.
• Experience with spectrum filing, frequency coordination, RF missile defense, or NSA Type 1 encryption.
• Experience developing junior and mid-level engineers into senior contributors.
• Startup or high-growth aerospace experience.
