AI Research Engineer (AI)

Location: United States (remote); candidates must already be authorized to work in the United States without current or future employment visa sponsorship. Remote, hybrid, and in-office work are available, with an office in Portland, Oregon.

hirify.global is building an AI-native platform that helps homebuilders, developers, and investors discover, analyze, and act on land opportunities using proprietary technologies and data from all 50 states.

What you will do

• Build and improve the AI systems behind SearchAI, ZoneAI, SiteAI, CouncilAI, and DevMap.
• Design reliable agentic harnesses and pipelines that discover, crawl, and extract information from municipal and county sources.
• Develop evaluation datasets and benchmark sets to improve extraction and inference accuracy.
• Scale model inference and data processing for throughput, cost efficiency, failure handling, and national workloads covering hundreds of millions of records.
• Work with parcel geometry, zoning, topography, and market data across all 50 states.
• Ship production-quality Python code, integrate research into platform features, and collaborate on architecture and prioritization.

Requirements

• United States work authorization without current or future sponsorship is required.
• PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent industry experience.
• 5+ years of software engineering experience delivering production systems.
• Strong experience with data pipelines, orchestration, agentic systems, model inference, and large-scale data processing.
• Hands-on experience deploying LLMs in production, including prompt engineering, context engineering, and evaluation.
• Strong Python skills and the ability to own deployments.

Nice to have

• Experience with geospatial data, PostGIS, spatial analysis, or satellite imagery.
• Experience with optimization or computational geometry.
• 2+ years of experience at an early-stage startup.
• Background in proptech or real estate data.
