Platform Engineer (AWS)

Location: London, United Kingdom, with blended working and office attendance expected at least twice each month. Office locations include London, Cambridge and Leeds.

What you will do

• Design, build, operate and optimise AWS cloud infrastructure for scalability, security and reliability.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD, Terraform and Ansible.
• Implement infrastructure as code, reusable platform components and Engineering Golden Path templates.
• Contribute to cloud governance covering security, cost management, compliance and multi-account standards.
• Monitor platform performance, troubleshoot issues and automate solutions that improve resilience and reduce downtime.
• Enable and coach application engineering teams on cloud best practices and self-service delivery.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience as a Platform Engineer, Cloud Engineer or similar DevOps professional.
• At least 2 years of commercial experience with AWS and Terraform.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, particularly GitLab CI/CD, and DevOps practices.
• Proficiency in Python scripting and infrastructure as code.
• Familiarity with Ansible, Chef or Puppet, plus knowledge of cloud governance, security and cost optimisation.
• Willingness to support, mentor and enable application engineering teams.

Nice to have

• Experience working in a Cloud Centre of Excellence.
• AWS, Terraform or automation certifications.
• A recent Computer Science or relevant Engineering degree.
