Cloud Platform Engineer (Azure)

Location: Hybrid or remote within the United Kingdom, subject to locality to one of the offices; attendance at the Hartlepool Office is required at least once a month.

What you will do

• Implement and maintain Azure landing zones, subscription structures, management groups, and baseline configurations.
• Build shared platform services covering identity integrations, IAM, RBAC, networking, DNS, gateways, and private endpoints.
• Develop Terraform templates and modules and support CI/CD pipelines for platform provisioning.
• Create automation, internal tooling, and self-service capabilities for application and product teams.
• Support platform operations, incident response, patching, upgrades, maintenance, and cloud environment onboarding.
• Document platform patterns and collaborate with Security, FinOps, and Platform Services teams on governance and operational controls.

Requirements

• Experience with Azure and Infrastructure as Code tools, especially Terraform.
• Understanding of cloud networking, identity fundamentals, governance, tagging, policies, and cost controls.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automation, and scripting using Bash, Python, or PowerShell.
• Experience in DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering environments and working within ITIL frameworks.
• Intermediate or advanced cloud certification in AWS, Azure, or OCI, above Fundamentals level.
• Pre-existing right to work and travel within the United Kingdom is required, and candidates must be eligible for UK Security Clearance.

Nice to have

• Experience with enterprise networking, routing, firewalls, DNS, VPN, ExpressRoute, or Direct Connect.
• Experience supporting Windows Server, Active Directory, Unix/Linux systems, configuration management, and security hardening.
• Exposure to container platforms and Kubernetes, including AKS, EKS, GKE, OKE, or on-premises Kubernetes.
• Experience integrating monitoring and observability tools such as Azure Monitor, CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, ManageEngine, or SolarWinds.
