Senior Scala Software Engineer

Location: Amsterdam, Noord-Holland, Netherlands; remote work is available.

What you will do

• Shape the architecture of a next-generation image management platform.
• Design and implement provider-agnostic JVM libraries in Scala for uploads and URL generation.
• Migrate services to the new abstraction layer while maintaining backward compatibility and zero user impact.
• Translate product and architecture requirements into technical specifications and implementation plans.
• Contribute to architecture reviews, code reviews, and long-term media platform decisions.
• Collaborate with technical leads and architects in an agile, high-ownership environment.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems.
• Strong JVM background; Scala experience is highly preferred.
• Solid understanding of microservices, event-driven design, and inter-service communication.
• Experience running services in AWS or GCP under production SLAs.
• DevOps mindset with experience in CI/CD, deployment automation, and infrastructure as code.
• Clear communication, collaboration, mentoring, and ownership from design through production.
