Principal Backend Engineer (Analytics)

Location: Hybrid role based in Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality, Israel

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services in a microservices architecture using Scala and Java/Spring Boot.
• Optimize production performance, cost, reliability, and data management across Snowflake, Trino, and Apache Iceberg.
• Advance semantic layers, query optimization, and analytics capabilities.
• Collaborate with product, UX, and frontend teams to deliver high-scale features from inception through production.
• Mentor junior engineers and strengthen the team’s technical capabilities.

Requirements

• 8+ years of backend development experience focused on robust, data-intensive solutions.
• Experience designing microservices with AWS, Kubernetes, queues, databases, and Tilt.
• Demonstrated curiosity about AI tools and experience integrating new technologies into daily workflows.
• Strong communication and complex problem-solving skills in a dynamic environment.
• Self-driven approach to exploring technologies and driving innovation.

Nice to have

• B.Sc. in Computer Science or a related field.
• Expertise in query optimization, data analytics, semantic layers, and performance optimization in data-intensive environments.
